Event Security in Washington State: What It Takes to Protect Large-Scale Events

From collegiate athletics to community parades and large charity fundraisers, Washington State hosts thousands of permitted events every year. Each one presents unique challenges: crowd size, traffic flow, emergency access, and coordination with local agencies. Effective event security is not just about staffing bodies on site. It requires planning, experience, and professionals who understand how public safety works in real-world conditions.
Seattle’s Finest Security & Traffic Control has built its event security program around those realities. Our work spans stadiums, city streets, campuses, and private venues across Washington, providing both security and traffic control services that keep events safe, compliant, and moving.
Stadium and Campus Operations
Large sporting events are some of the most complex security environments in the state. At University of Washington football games, Seattle’s Finest has provided event staffing for many years at Husky Stadium, deploying more than 35 uniformed police officers per game. These officers manage traffic control outside the stadium while also supporting security operations for crowds approaching 70,000 fans inside. This work is performed in direct coordination with University of Washington Police Department, ensuring seamless communication and response.
Beyond game days, Seattle’s Finest has also supported UWPD with campus security assignments, utilizing uniformed officers on walking beats to enhance visibility, deterrence, and rapid response across campus grounds.
Parades, Races, and Community Events
Annual public events require detailed traffic and pedestrian planning. Seattle’s Finest has staffed the Solstice Parade in both 2024 and 2025, providing more than 35 officers for traffic control and security along the full parade route. These events were staffed independently, highlighting the importance of experienced leadership and clear operational planning.
For endurance events like the Seattle Marathon in 2023, Seattle’s Finest deployed over 60 officers working alongside Seattle Police Department to manage intersections, road closures, and crowd safety across the full marathon course.
Community-focused events such as the Seattle Lake City Festival also require a balanced approach. At this event, over 35 officers handled both parade traffic control and festival security, helping maintain a family-friendly and well-organized environment.
Large-Scale Fundraisers and Private Security
Seattle’s Finest has supported the Fred Hutch Obliteride for several years, deploying more than 65 officers across a 100-mile bicycle course. Officers provide traffic control and rider protection throughout the event, supporting fundraising efforts for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
In addition to public events, Seattle’s Finest regularly provides security for large private corporate events, private residences, and entire neighborhoods. These assignments use a mix of uniformed and plainclothes officers, along with marked patrol vehicles, to match the needs of each environment.
Proven Experience With High-Volume Staffing
One of the most critical and often overlooked aspects of event security is the ability to schedule, manage, and supervise large numbers of officers reliably. Seattle’s Finest has extensive experience handling high-volume deployments for some of the most heavily attended events in Washington State.
From 2012 through 2015, Seattle’s Finest managed all internal police security at Lumen Field (formerly CenturyLink Field). This included Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Sounders games, major concerts, and other large-scale events. During these seasons, Seattle’s Finest was responsible for scheduling and managing up to 200 officers per event, ensuring consistent coverage, clear command structure, and coordination with venue and public safety partners.
The company has also demonstrated its ability to support extended, high-risk operations. In 2016, Seattle’s Finest scheduled and managed a four-day protest at an oil refinery in Western Washington, deploying approximately 150 officers over the course of the operation. Assignments of this scale require careful planning, fatigue management, and real-time adaptability, especially when conditions evolve quickly.
Experience That Makes the Difference
Across Washington State, successful events depend on more than visibility. They require coordination, logistics, and teams that can scale as needed. With decades of experience staffing everything from campus patrols to stadium events and large demonstrations, Seattle’s Finest Security & Traffic Control brings proven capability to events where safety, compliance, and reliability matter most.
